DESCRIPTION:Achieving high luminosity in modern colliders requires new way
s of controlling beam\, collective effects\, and transverse phase space st
ructure. One promising approach is circular mode optics\, in which the tr
ansverse dynamics is described not by the usual horizontal and vertical be
tatron oscillations\, but by rotating coupled eigenmodes. This framework n
aturally appears in the presence of solenoidal fields and other strongly c
oupled systems\, and it provides a useful language for understanding magne
tized beams and beams carrying canonical angular momentum.  This seminar
gives a pedagogical introduction to circular mode beams and their optical
description. I will first review the linear optics of coupled motion and
show how circular eigenmodes emerge as a natural basis for beam dynamics.
I will then discuss their physical interpretation\, their connection to ma
gnetized beam production\, why they may be attractive for applications ai
ming at high luminosity\, and how they are resilient to instabilities . F
inally\, I will present examples from my own work on circular mode optics
and discuss possible implications for future high-intensity and collider s
 ystems.  \n\nhttps://indico.uu.se/event/2137/
