DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Philine Van Vilet\n\nConformal defects break part of
the symmetry of a bulk CFT. The brokenWard identities lead to very genera
l sum rules on the defect CFT data aswell as on the data of bulk operators
in the presence of a defect. Wecall these sum rules "defect soft theorems
"\, and they hold generally fordefects which break conformal symmetry\, fl
avor symmetry\, orsupersymmetry. In this talk I will focus on line defects
for which wecan rewrite the constraints in dispersive sum rule form\, and
show howthe defect soft theorems impose constraints on the defect spectru
m andOPE coefficients. I will also show how to combine them with thenumeri
cal conformal bootstrap for defects\, a nonperturbative andrigorous method
to obtain CFT data. I will highlight two examples: 1) aflux tube in pure
YM in AdS_3\, where the bootstrap can be used to testthe validity of a smo
oth interpolation between perturbative models atsmall and large AdS radius
 . 2) the ½-BPS Maldacena-Wilson line in N=4SYM\, where an interplay with
integrability and supersymmetriclocalization provides a unique opportunity
  to obtain exact results.\n\nhttps://indico.uu.se/event/2229/
