Description
Abstract:
Stellar multiplicity is a crucial test for the theories explaining the details of stellar structure and evolution. HD 40759 is a known magnetic star with very complex variability revealed by TESS. Step-by-step, through the analysis of a large set of spectra, photometric observations, and speckle interferometry, we demonstrate that HD 40759 comprises three nearly equal early A-type stars, including a chemically peculiar magnetic component and two stars that form an eclipsing system. We identify the fourth possible component of late A-type as a del Sct pulsator, whose variability is visible in TESS data. We provide estimates for the fundamental stellar parameters of all components and discuss the possible implications of similar systems for the theory of magnetic CP star formation.
