TMD parton distributions meet reality

Abstract: The need for transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distributions is discussed. It is shown that TMD parton distributions (gluon, sea and valence quarks) can be obtained directly by a Monte Carlo solution of the evolution equations. A comparison of the so obtained TMDs with collinear parton distributions shows the consistency of the approach. Potential applications for the use of those TMDs are discussed.
