Description

The IceCube Neutrino Observatory was built to open a new window to the universe by studying the cosmos with high energy neutrinos, and indeed it became world famous for the discovery of a diffuse high-energy neutrino flux of astrophysical origin, as well as for the identification of the first cosmological point-source candidate for neutrino emission. But IceCube is also one of the largest particle detectors ever built which can provide a unique window to physics beyond the Standard Model at energies unreachable in man-made accelerators.
The seminar will review the capabilities of using IceCube for BSM searches in topics ranging from searches for sterile neutrinos, searches for extra dimensions, searches for Lorentz-invariance violation, non-standard neutrino interactions and searches for new long-lived particles, among others.
