Description

Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the study of defects in quantum field theories, with holography providing a powerful framework to explore various aspects thereof.
In this talk, I will discuss supergravity solutions dual to codimension-2 superconformal monodromy defects. These are constructed using gauged supergravity theories in 4,5,6 and 7 dimensions. I will present a prescription to compute the defect entanglement entropy, outlining the renormalisation procedure needed to regularise its divergencies. I will relate this quantity to field theory data (free energy/Weyl anomaly and conformal weight) that characterise the defect conformal field theory. I will provide evidence that, unlike in the bulk theories in which the defects reside, the universal part of the defect entanglement entropy does not necessarily decrease along a renormalisation group flow.
If time allows, I will also discuss some new results for non-conformal monodromy defects.
