The realization of unprecedented scientific endeavors, like the LHC, EU-XFEL, ESS and ITER Research Infrastructures, has been made possible thanks to the ‘de facto’ foundation of a European Technology Infrastructure formed by the Technological Facilities located at European research laboratories that are dedicated to the development of accelerator components and SC magnets, in collaboration with industry.
The AMICI H2020 project is charged by the European Commission with the challenging task of building the conditions for consolidating and sustaining the exploitation of this European Technology Infrastructure to enable the construction of future scientific research projects, and to strengthen the capabilities of European companies to compete on the global market, not only as qualified suppliers of components for accelerators and big superconductor magnets, but also in the development of innovative applications in advanced sectors such as healthcare and space.
Representatives of 10 major European institutes in close collaboration with industry have been advancing this undertaking for one year. During the First Annual meeting, AMICI partners will report the status of the different work package activities. This meeting will also provide the opportunity for participants to share views on barriers and future tangible actions so that the expected objectives can be reached with maximum efficacy.
