Event rates up to 20 MHz and continuous detector readout make the event filtering at PANDA challenging. In addition, no hardware-based event selection will be possible due to the similarities between signal and background. PANDA will therefore utilize a fully software-based event filtering. Track reconstruction will be crucial for the online filtering where it will be used together with the event building.
In this talk I will address some hyperon channels of interest for PANDA and discuss my investigations of detector signatures from the decay channels Λ→pπ-, Ξ-→Λπ-→pπ-π- and Ω-→ΛK-→ K-pπ- where the hypeons have been produced in particle-antiparticle pairs. I will also talk about my development for tracking on free streaming data. In addition, I will discuss candidates for online track reconstruction algorithms for free streaming data based on a 4D Cellular Automaton clustering procedure and Riemann fitting. The Cellular Automaton procedure does not assume the interaction point as a constraint which makes it suitable for tracking hyperon decay products. The track reconstruction quality assurance procedure and the results from the tracking at different event rates are also presented.
