Tiny deviations from Lorentz and CPT invariance can be analysed model independently using effective field theory. Many studies have produced stringent constraints on couplings parameterising effects on stable particles like electrons, protons and photons. By comparison, access to couplings affecting confined or unstable particles is more challenging, and in particular, only a handful of works on the Lorentz and CPT properties of quarks exist. After providing the relevant background, I will discuss a recent search for quark-sector Lorentz and CPT violation performed with the ZEUS Collaboration using five years of deep-inelastic-scattering data. I will also discuss an analysis underway by the ATLAS Collaboration searching for Lorentz- and parity-violating effects in Z boson production.
