Characterisation of vector-like fermions at the LHC

Description

Abstract:

The existence of vector-like fermions is a striking prediction of various classes of models of new physics. Should these states be discovered during the 13 TeV runs of the LHC or at future high energy hadron colliders, understanding their properties, such as dominant coupling chirality or width, would be crucial in order to shed light on the underlying model structure. I will show how it is possible to develop strategies to characterise such states in different scenarios, and in the whole discovery range currently accessible at the LHC and future colliders, thus effectively narrowing down the possible interpretations of a discovered vector-like fermion in terms of new physics models.
