Description

The neutrino is a mysterious and enigmatic particle. Created in the most extreme environments in our Universe, they then pass like ghosts through matter before reaching our detectors. While the neutrino is interesting in its own right, it also grants us insight into high energy processes we cannot recreate in the lab, including the interior of dying stars and jets from black holes. Detection is a challenge that requires using different technologies to fully cover the energy range of astrophysical neutrinos. With today's experiments, we are seeing exciting first discoveries and answering fundamental questions about the Universe in which we live. In the next generation of experiments, we will forge new directions and move into the era of neutrino astronomy.
