The standard model of particle physics was finally established by the discovery of Higgs boson at CERN in 2012. Although the model prediction is virtually very accurate and precise, there are plenty of fundamental questions which suggest the existence of physics beyond the standard model. In such a blue ocean, applications of new technology can often open a new window. High-power millimeter-waves are rarely used in this field and are therefore unique for new particle searches. One of the promising candidates is so called dark photon, massive U(1) gauge boson, as a messenger from the dark sector predicted by for instance super string theory. The search range of dark photon is determined by the wavelength, and millimeter waves offer the best sensitivity for mass range of 0.1 meV. In this seminar, we review previous and present searches of dark photons, in particular by using light-shining-through-a-wall technique, and then propose new experiments by millimeter waves. The state-of-the-art superconducting quantum sensors and high-power microwave instruments in FREIA will be the keys for this new research field.
