Time zone
Sweden is in the Central European Time zone.

 

Local Currency
The Swedish monetary unit is the Swedish krona (SEK). 

Major credit cards are accepted almost everywhere. There are several currency exchange offices and cash dispensers at Stockholm Arlanda International Airport and in Uppsala. Exchange rates may vary.

 

Business hours & shopping
Shops are open between 10.00 and 18.00 hrs on weekdays and from 10.00 to 15.00 on Saturdays. Shops in the city center have extended opening hours, some even on Sundays between 12.00 and 16.00 hrs.

 

Smoking policy
Sweden has a non-smoking policy, i.e. smoking is prohibited in public buildings, public transport, taxis, buses and trains.

 

Electricity
In Sweden the electrical voltage used is 220/230V. The types of power plugs used in Sweden are types F and C.

 

Insurance
Your social insurance cover is the responsability of you and your employer or of the educational institution at which are are normally enrolled. It you do not have this kind of insurance covering you should yourself take the necessary measures to safeguard yourself against the economic consequences of illness, accidents and disability throughout your stay.

The workshop does not cover insurance for the participants. The organisers recommend that you take out insurance in your home country to cover pre-journey cancellation for personal reasons and necessary insurance to cover accidents, medical expenses and loss of personal belongings during the visit.

No vaccinations are needed when visiting Sweden.

 

Visa
You are strongly advised to contact the nearest embassy or consulate for information about the passport and visa requirements from your country for entry to Sweden.

If you need an Invitation letter to apply for visa, please send an email to the local organizers with the following information:

  • your full name (as in passport)
  • title
  • your organisation / company
  • gender

 

Force Majeure
The organisers are not liable for any claims for damages and/or losses if the entire conference has to be cancelled due to a force majeure incident.
