The European Young Statisticians Meetings are held every two years under the auspices of the European Regional Committee of the Bernoulli Society. More information is available in guidelines and more recent remarks for their organisation.

The idea of the meeting is to provide young researchers (less than thirty years of age or two to eight years of research experience) an introduction to the international scene within the broad subject area - from pure probability theory to applied statistics.

Every participant is expected to submit an abstract and a short paper for conference proceedings and to give a twenty minutes talk introducing his/her research field to a wide audience. There are no parallel sessions.

The 20th EYSM will be held in Uppsala, Sweden on August 14-18 2017.

Speaker information:
Each speaker should prepare a 20 minute talk, using either a pdf/Powerpoint presentation or the blackboard. 30 minutes will be devoted to each talk, to allow for questions and discussion.

Venue:
The main venue for the conference is the Ångström laboratory:

To get to the Ångström laboratory from Selmas Hytt, you can either take a 15 minute walk along the river, or take a bus from the nearby Uppsala Akademiska sjukhuset bus stop (bus 1 towards Ultuna). Please note that the city buses do not accept cash payment, but that it is possible to pay for your ride using a credit card.

On Wednesday the 16th the conference will take place in Uppsala University's Museum Gustavianum building in the city centre:

A map showing the Ångström laboratory, the Museum Gustavianum, the Selmas Hytt hostel and the Uppsala train station is available here.

Hostel:
For those of you who have booked a room at the Selmas Hytt hostel through us, your room is available Sunday-Friday. You can check in at the hostel on the Sunday (or later). Sheets, towels, free wifi and breakfast are included.

Getting here:
The Uppsala city centre is easily accessible from the Stockholm-Arlanda airport through buses (46 minute trip) and trains (18 minute trip). Tickets can be bought at the airport. Please note that there are three different companies operating trains between Arlanda and Uppsala (SJ, UL and SL) and that tickets bought from either of these only are valid on trains operated by that particular company.
If you prefer to take a taxi from the airport, expect the cost to be in the region of €55 for 1-4 passengers.
